IT Assistant Manager (Thailand, Bangkok)
Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing and maintaining the institution’s IT infrastructure to support teaching, learning, and administrative operations. This includes managing network systems, surveillance solutions, ensuring reliable daily IT services for staff and students, handling procurement of IT resources, and liaising with vendors for system implementation and maintenance. The role is key in enabling a secure, smart, and connected campus environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. IT Infrastructure, Networking & Security
• Manage and maintain campus-wide IT infrastructure including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, servers, and cloud services.
• Administer and support network and security solutions including Fortinet and Palo Alto (PA) firewalls.
• Monitor network performance, security posture, and system availability.
• Implement and manage firewalls, VPNs, intrusion prevention, and access control policies.
• Ensure high availability and secure connectivity across classrooms, labs, and administrative areas.
2. Surveillance & Physical Security Systems
• Manage and maintain campus surveillance systems including Hikvision CCTV and video management solutions.
• Oversee installation, configuration, and monitoring of IP cameras, NVRs/DVRs, and access control systems.
• Ensure surveillance systems are operational, secure, and compliant with data protection requirements.
• Liaise with vendors for upgrades, maintenance, and expansion of security systems.
• Support incident investigations with video retrieval and system logs.
3. Educational Systems & Digital Learning Support
• Support Learning Management Systems (LMS), Student Information Systems (SIS), and digital learning tools.
• Ensure reliable IT support for hybrid classrooms, smart boards, AV equipment, and e-learning platforms.
• Collaborate with academic staff to enable innovative teaching technologies.
• Maintain system uptime during critical academic activities such as exams and online assessments.
4. Daily IT Operations & User Support
• Oversee IT helpdesk and ensure timely resolution of issues for staff and students.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and access-related issues.
• Maintain IT service levels with minimal disruption to academic operations.
• Provide onboarding/offboarding support for users (accounts, access, devices).
5. Procurement & Asset Management
• Manage procurement of IT hardware, software, networking equipment, and surveillance systems.
• Work with vendors to source cost-effective and fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Maintain inventory and lifecycle management of IT and security assets.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and budget constraints.
6. Vendor Management & Implementation
• Liaise with vendors for networking, cybersecurity, surveillance, and system implementation projects.
• Coordinate deployments such as firewall upgrades, Wi-Fi expansion, CCTV installation, and LMS rollouts.
• Ensure vendors meet project timelines, SLAs, and quality standards.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all IT-related external engagements.
7. IT Security & Compliance
• Implement cybersecurity best practices to protect institutional data.
• Ensure compliance with PDPA and relevant data protection regulations.
• Monitor threats, vulnerabilities, and apply timely remediation.
• Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
• Conduct IT security awareness for staff and students.
8. Strategic Planning & Smart Campus Initiatives
• Develop IT strategies aligned with education and digital transformation goals.
• Lead smart campus initiatives including integrated surveillance, IoT, and automation.
• Identify and implement new technologies to enhance operational efficiency and learning experience.
• Manage IT budgets and technology roadmap.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Proven experience in IT management, preferably in education or public sector.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Fortinet and/or Palo Alto firewalls
• Hikvision or similar CCTV/surveillance systems
• Enterprise networking and infrastructure
• Experience in managing LMS, SIS, and classroom technologies is an advantage.
